Florence and the Machine – Shake It Out (Weeknd Mix)

If you haven’t been keeping up with the new R&B scene, Canadian artist, The Weeknd, has been gaining a lot of exposure with his subtle emo style.  I am a big fan of both his mixtapes and on the new Machine album, he and Benny Benassi were given the opportunity to interpret their new single “Shake It Out.” Check it out.

Common – Blue Sky

Common is an artist who has been around for a long time, and throughout his career he has been fortunate to have great production to accompany his signature flow (except Universal Mind Control, sorry Pharrell).  He has worked with DJ Premier, J Dilla, The Roots, and Kanye West  His latest album, The Dreamer, The Believer, is produced mostly by Chicago native No I.D., producer of countless hits for Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Usher, and most recently Big Sean.  “Blue Sky,” is his second single following his street single, “Ghetto Dreams.”

Tyga feat. Drake – Still Got It

Tyga, Young Money’s next artist up, receives an old Drake track and makes it his own for his official second single.  I really enjoyed “Far, Far Away”, (previously posted on AOS) and really like this young kid from Compton.  Behind Drake and Nicki, I think he is the only other viable artist from the label.  So check this out, as well as for a bonus the original Drake track.

Cassie feat. Fabolous – Radio

Diddy’s old girlfriend is back at the music business and ready to try again with “Radio.”  Cassie ran into some trouble back in the day with some awful live performances which gave her some motivation to stick back to modeling.  This time using the infamous Mobb Deep sample and with the help of Loso, she brings us a “Radio” single, wow that was really corny, give it a listen.

Wale feat. Miguel – Lotus Flower Bomb

Wale’s sophomore effort, Ambition, is shaping up quite nicely. His newest single features R&B crooner, Miguel, on the hook. This reminds me of the Wale, I originally grew interested in, before his Maybach Music signing. This goes back to his story telling ability, this time about a love interest. His album will be in stores this fall, enjoy.  Bonus, i put up the song that put Miguel on the map.

Young Jeezy feat. T.I. – F.A.M.E.

Sorry for the delay people, a lot of big things happening lately and you will start to see some great changes.  The first post today is from Young Jeezy and features the new released T.I.  I gotta say I am not a huge fan of Jeezy, but every now and then he drops a great song with his trademark grizzly voice.  Check out F.A.M.E., his new album should be dropping soon.

Reptar – Context Clues

With a name like Reptar, how can you go wrong?  I mean honestly, I really could care less if their music was complete garbage, any time your reference the Rugrats you’re ok in my book.  Coming from the Greater Atlanta region, this group is able to cross multiple genres in their tune “Context Clues.”  It starts off as your standard indie tune spiced with what sounds like an old school alarm clock, an owl, and a copy machine sampled in the background, then moves to an electo jam around the 2:30 mark, finally transforming into a full ensemble with horns and all.  Hipsters… eat this up.

Real Estate – It’s Real

Another gray, mildly unpleasant day in Buffalo and I figure we could use a track that brings back the feeling of summer and sunshine.  Real Estate is a quartet out of Ridgewood, NJ, however on this track they bring a vibe of the California coast.  This tune can really onle be defined as surf pop, combining complimenting twangy electric guitars, heavily reverbed vocals, as well as a hook full of harmonies that gives off a modern day beach boys vibe.
