G.O.O.D. Music – The Morning
The G.O.O.D. music compilation is out, and after a couple quick listens as I drove up and down California this past week, there are some nice gems on this album. “The Morning,” features Raekwon, Common, 2 Chainz, Cyhi The Prynce, Kid Cudi & D’Banj. It is surprisingly Common’s only feature on the album which is a shame as his trademark voice shines after the first chorus. Pusha T is really the common contributor along with Kanye and his lyrics are top notch. Also check out “To The World,” feat. R. Kelly, “Creepers,” with Kid Cudi and “Higher,” featuring The Dream, Ma$e, and Cocaine 80’s. Definitely recommend picking up the album.

Coming out of nowhere, this song stuck in my head after watching a trailer for the movie, Celeste and Jesse Forever. What a cool job when you think about it, just look around for songs that fit with movie scenes and trailers, and for the most part these people get it right. This guy’s voice reminds me of Silversun Pickups. Check it out.

The first time I heard of Colin Munroe, was his version of Kanye’s “Flashing Lights,” and I was impressed by his vocal style and creative take on the track. Fast forward a couple years, and this Canadian has released a star studded mixtape, Unsung Hero (d/l here). Featuring appearances from Pusha T, RZA, Kendrick Lamar, and Cassie, this mixtape has its share of gems. Check out “Scars N Stars,” which features his “No Make-up,” co star Kendrick. Man this sounds good, Talib is back and he brought along two of the nicest newcomers to come out in the past couple of years. This definitely sounds like a Common beat, but the trio works well and delivers some nice conscious Hip Hop we have been missing.

Off of DJ Khaled’s (please tell me what this guy does) latest album, Kiss the Ring, Scarface and Nas describe their metaphors for Hip Hop. Especially Nas gets very clever with his wordplay and this works perfectly over Justice League’s haunting beat.
