Travis Garland – Where to Land

Wow, I have been hooked on this song for the last couple days. Travis Garland, previously of boy band, NLT, fame, is all grown up and comes out swinging with his Fashionably Late mixtape. Travis has had some decent tracks surface now and again with even the likes of Timbaland attached. “Where To Land,” gives us a smooth R&B serenade over a thumping bassline. Well done, and hope to hear more from Travis. Check out his soundcloud for more.

Frank Ocean – Wiseman (PortraitRemix)

Unfortunately Quentin stole Frank’s Oscar right from his hands by not including this on the Django Unchained soundtrack.  Ocean shows off his songwriting skills while delivering a powerful ballad.  One that Adele’s “Skyfall,” would have had no chance were it up against for the best song from a motion picture category.  Here is “Wiseman,” with some nice drums added.

Cocaine 80’s – Ground

Sometimes you need an escape from the norm, after having nothing but Kendrick and KapSlap on repeat in my car, I stumble upon Cocaine 80’s newest EP.  When you talk about pure talent, and giving it out for free none the less, you will find this indie supergroup.  Fronted by talented songwriter James Flaunteroy, 80’s is pure guitar and drums organic poetry.  I can talk all day but I would rather you just click play and check out one of my favorites off their Flower of Life EP, “Ground.”   Download the entire project here.

Rihanna ft. Future – Loveeeee

I can’t figure out why so many people turned their back on T-Pain.  He is clearly talented, tries to dance, and really only cares about making good music.  I remember watching an interview with Kanye talking about his song, “Good Life,” and how he had so many different artists come in and give their ideas for the hook on that song.  T-Pain blew him away and made that song.  Anyways Future is essentially taking Pain’s style and making it a little more grimier.  That being said this cut off of Unapologetic, does a good job of making you sing along and getting it stuck in your head.  Check it out.
