B.O.B. – Strange Clouds feat. Lil’ Wayne

Fresh from the internet is B.O.B’s first single off his Sophomore album.  “Strange Clouds,” chooses a more party/street tone rather than the top 40/pop singles we were accustomed to from his last album (Nothin’ On You, Airplanes, Magic).  He has brought along Lil’ Wayne to help out.  Nowadays artists release “street” singles to get buzz and then follow up with a single that will get radio play.  This is that street single, I would imagine he will have a hit with a guest artist singing the hook, just a wild guess.  *Bonus, I included one of my favorites from his last album, acoustic, pretty much the opposite of “Strange Clouds,” but really shows you this guys talent.

Young the Giant – Cough Syrup

Young the Giant, formerly know as The Jakes, have been around since 2004, but have gained a lot of exposure recently with their songs being used on numerous TV shows.  They were the act this year who played at the MTV Music Awards, and everybody said, “Who are they?”  Well they are pretty damn good.  The song they performed on the show was “My Body.”  But ever since hearing “Cough Syrup,”  I give these guys credit, they definitely have some range and should be around for a while.  “Cough Syrup,” has kind of a Mumford and Sons feel to it.  Enjoy. (Thanks Denise for the correction)

Coldplay – Every Teardrop is a Waterfall (Avicii Mix)

We have already heard 3 or 4 remixes of this song, and to be honest I am already listening to “Paradise,” and waiting for those remixes to appear.  However with the late addition, comes none other than Avicii, with his take on the song.  Avicii’s mix is more organic and instead of just cutting the song up and mixing it you can hear him add his own melodies and make this truly a entirely different song.

Avicii – Dirty Flash

AlwaysOnShuffle favorite, Avicii, takes Nicky Romero’s “Flash” and combines it with Dirty Money’s “Coming Home,” to make this masterpiece.  This became one of the staples of Avicii’s shows and now has found its way onto the “Internets.”  This will definitely get you ready for your weekend, Happy Friday!

Cold War Kids – Finally Begin

It’s amazing when you meet new people and ask their musical tastes.  That conversation always leads to someone discovering a band or artist they have never listened to before.  With as much music as I listen to, I am still introduced to bands I have never heard of.  Case in point was when I was asked if I like Cold War Kids,  I had no idea who they were or what they sang.  So I went home and started listening to their catalog, and that’s when I came upon this gem.  This four piece band from Long Beach, who have only been around since 2004, have released several albums in a short period.  Their latest album, Mine Is Yours, enlisted Kings of Leon’s producer, and you can hear that influence in the album.  Mine Is Yours in stores now.

David Guetta – Without You feat. Usher

I will say it again, David Guetta is a machine for producing radio hits and his album is full of them.  We shared earlier his collaboration with Chris Brown and Lil’ Wayne, now I give you his next big hit on deck, “Without You.”  Combining his top notch dance production with Usher Raymond’s vocals works perfectly here, and will be sure to be heard in every club very soon.

Kid Cudi – Falling Star (R3K Remix)

R3K has two banging remixes on his hands here.  I first heard his “Fly By Night” remix back at the beginning of summer, where he took a sample from Imogen Heap’s “Just for Now” and mixed it with Lil Wayne’s verses on “Swag Surfin.'” For a while, I had a problem and couldn’t help but hit play on that track everytime I grabbed my ipod.  Then just recently, while searching the youtubes, I stumbled across this gem which was apprently released at the same time.  This one takes Cudi’s vocals off “Symphonies” and lays it over Florence + The Machine’s “Cosmic Love.”  Incredible.

Tyga – Far Far Away

Sometimes I hear a song, absolutely love it, and think it will be a huge radio hit.  But for some reason the promotion and radio machine fails and a hit song never gets the due listens it deserves.  Case in point, “Far Far Away.”  Catchy hook check. Featured American Idol alumni, check.  Up and coming hip hop artist who raps about something other than cars and bitches, check.  Tyga, who besides Wayne, Drake, and Nicki, as the only other viable artist on the Young Money roster gives us his best shot at a pop single.  Give it a listen, I hope you will agree.
