Eddy B. & Tim Gunter – All Alone

Eddy B. and Tim Gunter are a hip hop duo out of North Carolina, both college students attending UNC and NC State respecitively.  Here’s their latest track, “All Alone” which speaks to the struggles of coming up and making something of yourself and the lonliness that can come with it.  I also did some digging and found “Nowhere to Go,” only fitting as these guys “got nowhere to go but up…”

Expo – Right Here With Me

Expo is a new electo-pop group out of Belgium that have started to create a little buzz on the internets.  This is their 2nd single, involving the classic recipe for a good track:  Simple drum track+heavy synths+catcy chorus+piano breakdown.  Can’t really go wrong here. Also included is their first track, “I Don’t Mind”

Kendrick Lamar- Cloud 10

Being the fact that we both work for Microsoft (well, kind of… but not really), we felt it only right to post the new track from Kendrick Lamar that was created for the new Windows Phone.  K-Dot’s new album, Good Kid in a Mad City, is set to release in early 2012 and the new Windows Mobile O/S, Mango should be out by within the next month, you know, just in case you were wondering.

Angus and Julia Stone – Big Jet Plane (Stern Disco Remix)

Angus and Julia Stone are a brother-sister duo out of Australia who are more widely recognized for their folky/indie branded sound.  Stern, is a house producer who has taken his craft worldwide, playing shows everywhere from Shanghai to Paris; Montreal to Mexico (where he currently resides).  Put the two together and you get quite the mix; including sultry vocals over a driving drum beat, soothing strings, and colorful synths that add that little extra spice.

Alex Clare – Damn Your Eyes

This guy has one seriously powerful voice.  Adding to the list of imports we have recently posted, Alex Clare hails from the Southeast of London, bringing vocals full of soul over anything from rock to dubstep.  Here is his cover of  Etta James’  “Damn Your Eyes” (Etta is more popularly known for her Motown classic “At Last”) as well as his original “Too Close.”  You can check out the rest of his album, Lateness of the Hour, at his Soundcloud.

Johan Reinhold – Shoot Me Down

Man… this one had me from the opening guitar riff/piano intro, and by the end of the chorus I was completely sold.  This one comes all the way from Sweeden, and is the first single for Johan whose influences are drawn from David Bowie, Roxy Music, Portishead, Air and Daft Punk.

Ms Mr – Ash Tree Lane

Anonymity appears to be a theme today, but I came across this track and had to post it.  It appears nothing, and I mean nothing, is known of Ms Mr.  This duo brings a Florence + The Machine-esque sound with heavy drums and a voice that’s both beautiful and somewhat haunting.  For more off their album, Ghost City USA, check out their bandcamp site.

Monarchy – You Don’t Want to Dance

Monarchy is an electro-pop duo out of London, who similarly to the Gorillaz at the start of their career, refuse to show their faces.  In reading up on these guys, it doesn’t seem like it’s all a gimmick either, rather for the sake of being judged on their music rather than appearances or personal lives.  Regardless, this track is one I can’t get out of my head.  Hit play and enjoy.
