Daughter, led by lead singer Elena Tonra, released their EP The Wild Youth back in November with their single, “Youth” gaining a lot of attention in the recent weeks. Rocking an acoustic guitar and bowl cut, there’s something unique about Elena’s style/voice/lyrics etc. The track takes about a minute to pick up but gives a great first impression filled with mystery and beauty.

Avicii & Alesso – The Rules Has Changed
A Message From the Editor…
First of all, Happy New Year to everyone! We hope you all had a great night filled with excessive drinking (no driving!) and debauchery. We want to thank everyone who has stuck with us since we launched on September 5th of last year, everyone who might be checking out our site for the first time, and everyone who has joined along the way. Our posts have been few and far between for the past few weeks, and in actuality we’ve only been operating at about 50% as my laptop was stolen and I haven’t had a computer for about a month and a half now (I know, I know; Rule #76: No excuses, play like a champion). Big thanks goes out to Justin for keeping the site going and keeping the dream alive. With all that said, let’s make 2012 the best year we’ve ever had- because if the world ends, fuck it, at least we went out with a bang. Now let’s get this party started…
Silversun Pickups – Seasick
The Silversun Pickups recently released a new vinyl containing 3 “new” tracks as their contribution to the Black Friday festivities. I say “new” because these are tracks that were recorded back in 2009 when their last LP Swoon dropped however they never saw the light of day. The Southern California rockers are currently working on their 3rd album, which is set to release in Spring 2012.

Florence + the Machine – Take Care (Drake Cover)
Is there anything this woman can’t do? Besides the originality and creativity Florence Welch and company bring to the table, she has a killer, awe inspiring voice. That voice which is seemingly being sampled everywhere in hip hop and electronic music these days, has now flipped the script. Here on BBC radio, she puts her own spin on the title track of Drake’s new album, Take Care, featuring Rihanna and produced by Jaime XX. Original track is posted below, but both versions are completely addicting.

Deadmau5 – Raise Your Weapon (Madeon Mix)
Ok so I must admit, this one has been around for about 6 months now but it’s the biggest party night of the year, I’m trying to rage, and it’s seriously too good not to post. Here the 17-year-old pop/house producer took what has become a classic for deadmau5 and brought it to a whole new level. It’s like Deadmau5 threw the party, and yeah the people showed up but it was missing something, so all of a sudden Madeon shows up with the women, ecstasy and Daft Punk. No I’m not on drugs right now, just saying that’s just what it sounds like…

HOHME – Love Build
A while back we posted a DJ by the name of Hohme who had a solid knack for the art of the mashup. After perusing his soundcloud page, I discovered this BANGER. Anytime you remix an Imogen Heap song you’re bound for a hit, but it’s not until after his sample of Imogen’s “Hide and Seek” does the song really takes off. Really looking forward to more from this guy. Oh ,and thanks for the shout out David.

Chiddy Bang – Ray Charles
Chiddy Bang has blown up over the past year and show no signs of stopping. Their single “Mind Your Manners” has been all over, beginning on various music blogs across the internet and then notably this year on EA Sports’ Madden 12 which has gained them much well deserved attention. Their second single, “Ray Charles,” is full of that Illadelphia soul and reminds me of Jurassic 5 back in the day. Fun fact about Chiddy for those who don’t know, he holds the Guinness World Record for longest freestyle, rapping for 9 hours and 18 minutes. Seriously? Are you f*#&ing kidding me??

B.O.B. – Five On The Kush feat. Bun B and Big K.R.I.T.
Here is the new track from Bobby Ray’s upcoming mixtape EPIC (Every Play is Crucial) featuring some of the South’s finest. This mixtape comes served as an appetizer in anticipation for B.O.B.’s second album, Strange Clouds, which should drop some time early next year. Five on the Kush brings a soulful swag, kind of reminds me of that track Outkast did with UGK way back when, International Players Anthem. Bring em’ to church Bobby!

Slow Down Honey- One I Know
Yet another gloomy day in Buffalo, and I’m on the search for something that will raise the spirits a little. Slow Down Honey, is a quartet out of Australia that brings some fire and funk. We’ve been finding a bunch of good groups out of Australia, could Indie music be their greatest export besides Foster’s (australian for beer) and funny accents?
