Chiddy Bang – Ray Charles

Chiddy Bang has blown up over the past year and show no signs of stopping.  Their single “Mind Your Manners” has been all over, beginning on various music blogs across the internet and then notably this year on EA Sports’ Madden 12 which has gained them much well deserved attention. Their second single, “Ray Charles,” is full of that Illadelphia soul and reminds me of Jurassic 5 back in the day.  Fun fact about Chiddy for those who don’t know, he holds the Guinness World Record for longest freestyle, rapping for 9 hours and 18 minutes.  Seriously? Are you f*#&ing kidding me??

Adele – The Remixes

Before I get started, I have to say, Adele blindsided me the first time I heard, “Rolling in the Deep.”  I knew nothing about her before this song, but her crisp vocals blew me away.  You could tell right away this was true talent entering a world of mass-produced pop stars.  The world recognized this talent as well as they came out and supported her album and all her singles. Now her music is universally adored, being remixed, reworked, and even was the topic of a full skit on SNL.  After posting the Mike Posner cover yesterday, I have decided to post some of the best mixes of Adele I have found by various producers.  Enjoy.

Common – Celebrate

Common over soulful beats, yes please. Man oh man this sounds good. No I.D. is handling most of the production for Common’s new album, The Dreamer, The Believer, and as long as they all sound as good as this we are in for a treat.  Common Sense has been a favorite of mine ever since, Can I Borrow a Dollar? With the  unfortunate loss of J Dilla, I was worried about his future records.  Then Kanye came along and gave me hope, and now with No I.D., we are in for some great music this holiday!

Mike Posner – Rolling In The Deep (Adele Cover)

As mentioned in the previous post, this cover was put out over the summer and was too good not to post. Of all the Adele covers this has to be up there if not the best one. He changes the whole song and adds in perfect cut up vocals from Adele. You can get this for free off of his new mixtape, The Layover.

Mike Posner ft. Big K.R.I.T. – Wonderwall

This music prodigy from Duke keeps impressing me. He ridiculously talented, just go ahead and watch some of his youtube videos of him making music from scratch. After the success of his last album, he is back in the studio, and he decided to treat us with his new mixtape, The Layover, to hold us over. I highly recommend downloading this, it even features his amazing cover of Adele’s “Rolling In the Deep.” With this track he channels his inner Oasis and adds up and coming hip hop artist Big K.R.I.T. Young Jeezy ft. Andre 3000, Jay-Z – I Do

The Ice Cream Man over a soulful beat? Check. Two heavyweight features? Absolutely. I will literally listen to anything featuring Andre 3000, its just a rule I have. But here we have not just 3 stacks but Jay as well. This sounds good, seems similar to a Kanye beat. Now if only Andre 3000 could call up Big Boi and get a new Outkast album finished. So far Andre has been on Drake’s, Lloyd’s, and now Jeezy’s album, how about he finally jumps on his own. Pick up Jeezy’s album December 20th, just in time for the holidays.

Avicii – Don’t Give Up On Us (Aylen &ThatMoment Remix)

Another Avicii mix? Why yes, his music is that good and he has been on fire this year. A clear example of this are the amount of people taking his work and mixing over and over. While there are some bad mixes out the the following one is pretty damn good. Check out “Don’t Give Up On Us (Aylen and ThatMoment Mix).”

Old Amica – New Start

There is something very soothing about this track from Old Amica. “New Start,” has a simple piano, guitar and vocal formula, but together they make a perfect combination for a great track. Old Amica is a two man group from Sweden, one from Stockholm and the other from Umea. Over the internet they have combined to form the group and put together a pretty solid body of work. Check out their soundcloud for more music:

B.O.B. – Five On The Kush feat. Bun B and Big K.R.I.T.

Here is the new track from Bobby Ray’s upcoming mixtape EPIC (Every Play is Crucial) featuring some of the South’s finest.  This mixtape comes served as an appetizer in anticipation for B.O.B.’s second album, Strange Clouds, which should drop some time early next year.  Five on the Kush brings a soulful swag, kind of reminds me of that track Outkast did with UGK way back when, International Players Anthem.  Bring em’ to church Bobby!

Dirty South – Alive (Tits & Clits Remix)

Dirty South is a Serbian born Austrailian producer who I first discovered with his remix of “Coming Home,” by Dirty Money. He has a pretty long list of hits and with “Alive,” he combined with Thomas Gold and Kate Elsworth. Then the Hungarian electronic duo, and this is really their name, Tits and Clits, took Dirty South’s hit, and really took it to another level. I remember my Dad using tits as an adjective all the time when I was younger, “that car is tits,” but you don’t hear that too often anymore, hopefully these Hungarians will make it cool again.
