Drake – Club Paradise

With his sophomore album quickly approaching, Drake has littered the airwaves with numerous songs “Dreams Money Can Buy,” Marvin’s Room,” and most recently “Headlines.”  Tonight he lets loose “Club Paradise,” produced by best friend 40.  Another smooth rap ballad with a signature Drizzy hook, oh and by the way supposedly two more tracks are leaking tonight.  Take Care, October 24!

Capital Cities – Safe and Sound

Capital Cities is an electro-pop duo out of California that prides themselves on producing good-mood music that is extremely catchy.  They are self-described as being “synth-tastically bright, danceable and catchy, yet maintaining a depth that reflects the band’s roots.”  I’d have to agree. If you have a craving for more, check out there site at http://capitalcitiesmusic.com/

Childish Gambino- Break

Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, has been emerging as one of the biggest internet sensations in the rap game.  More well known as one of the stars of the hit NBC show Community, Donald started his rap career as simply a side project.  Since then, he has taken off with his incredible talent for extremely witty and often hilarious punchlines that will leave you saying, “damn, did he really just say that?”  Here is Gambino’s take on Kanye West’s “All of The Lights” which I haven’t been able to stop playing for months now.  If you like that, also check out the video below where he held an impromptu concert at a steakhouse in Idaho.  Prepare to be dumbfounded.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: Wiz Khalifa – When I’m Gone

Is it even possible to have a throwback from only 6 months ago?  Well, in honor of the Pittsburgh rapper’s 24th birthday today, we felt it to be somewhat justified.  The first track off his debut studio album, “Rolling Papers,” really sets the stage for an album that is full of memorable hooks, catchy beats, and a laid-back flow that is unlike any rapper out there… oh yea, and he may mention a thing or two about getting high.

T-Pain – 5 O’Clock

Not to get away from Throwback Thursday, but one of the main reasons we started this blog is to get new music to people as soon as we hear it.  Apparently autotune is not dead because the heavily delayed album, RevolveR, has a new single.  Joining Mr. Pain is Lily Allen and Wiz Khalifa.  Both are a nice addition to a simple song that should crossover to mainstream and stir up some buzz. – JJ

THROWBACK THURSDAY: Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth – T.R.O.Y.

For the first Throwback Thursday, I bring you one of my all time favorite hip hop songs, “They Reminisce Over You.” Not to date myself but I had the instrumental of this as my pager music way back in the day.  Pete Rock is by far one of the best producers and this was the hit that put him on the map.  – JJ
