Kap Slap – Paper Towels!

The following Mash Up contains five, count them, five different songs.  Technically one of those is dialogue from a comedy skit from the where the song title is derived.  This masterpiece is brought to you by a Senior from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.  The name comes from his fraternity, Kappa Alpha, in which while funneling a beer, a 151 shot of Bacardi (“the slap”) is added hence Kap Slap.  Head to his website for many more mashups to D/L. – JJ

Inspired Flight – Wonderwall Remix

As you can tell from the previous posts, we here at AOS have a wide spectrum of musical tastes and we try to post a little something for everybody. Every once and a while I find something truly unique and this gem is one of those songs. This duo from San Diego has taken Oasis’ “Wonderwall” and mixed it with Radiohead, Postal Service, Morcheeba, and even Blur to create one heck of a musical buffet. Enjoy. – JJ

Atlas Genius – Trojans

It appears not much is known of the indie pop group out of Australia, however what we do know is that the band was formed in 2009 and is comprised of three Aussie brothers (Keith, Steven , and Michael) and a keyboardist (Darren) from the U.K.  Their first single, “Trojans,” has been blowing up on the internet since the beginning of summer, and I expect we should be hearing more from them soon.  Check out their blog at http://www.atlasgenius.com/ for a free download.

Dev – In The Dark feat. Flo Rida

Discovered by the group, The Cataracs, via her MySpace page, Dev, born Devin Tailes, is an upcoming artist along the lines of Ke$ha.  Infusing electronic and pop together, her music is the soundtrack to most club nights.  She first made waves with her single “Bass Down Low.”  Her new single “In The Dark” is just starting to get radio play and now gets the assistance of rap pop king Flo Rida.  Check it out, her album The Night the Sun Came Up will be in stores Sept. 20th. – JJ

David Guetta – I Can Only Imagine feat. Lil’ Wayne and Chris Brown

People always come to us asking for new music, and usually we are able to identify what will be the next big thing and have it a little early.  A recent example was the song “Airplanes” by B.O.B..  From the first listen we knew it would be a huge radio hit, unfortunately we listened to it so many times that when we finally  heard it on the radio we were already over it.  This track by David Guetta is currently from his album Nothing But the Beat, which is in stores now.  Guetta has had extreme success in crossing over to mainstream pop, and this album is literally filled with radio singles.  “I Can Only Imagine” is one of those singles you may have not heard yet, but will indefinitely be played over and over in coming weeks. – JJ

Kendrick Lamar – No Makeup feat. Colin Munroe

It has been a great year for new hip hop artists.  With new talents such as Big K.R.I.T., XV, Mac Miller, and Fashawn dropping quality material, Kendrick Lamar shines with his album, Section 80.  One of the standout tracks to me was “No Make-Up.”  One of the things that always intrigued me about Hip Hop music is the art of storytelling and thought that goes into producing a song.  While this sometimes gets lost in most songs and replaced with catchy metaphors (cough, Lil’ Wayne), it’s nice to see someone from the freshman class produce a phenomenal record.  Take a listen to “No Make-Up” and enjoy. – JJ

Red Hot Chili Peppers

With their 10th studio album now in stores, its hard to believe that these guys are still going so strong after almost 30 years.  Their first video for their single “Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie,” is shot in Venice Beach which is  perfect setting for a track that sounds like it came from a late night jam session.  With a new guitarist, and Flea writing a lot of new material on his piano, expect a slightly different sound, yet the same laid back California feel. – JJ

Chris Brown – Leave The Club

Fresh off his new mixtape “Boy In Detention,”  Chris Brown gives us a another smooth R&B song to rock with.  Produced by JUSTICE League, and featuring newcomer (and country singer?)  Joelle James, this is a nice late night track to listen to. – JJ
